There are so many different internet related applications available today that it is hard to recommend as there is a tool suited to most jobs, from new web browsers to utilities for making image maps, utilities for making navigation bars to utilities for making flash animations.

Whatever type of computer you are using, one of the best places to obtain this software has to be TUCOWS - The Ultimate Collection of Winsock Software. This might sound Windows based but does, in fact, provide software for many operating system, especially Windows and MacOS versions.

For SSH, we do recommend using the freely available PuTTY for Windows, which is available from http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html

Mac users have SSH now included as part of the standard operating system installation.
